Ms. Fields is Senior Portfolio Manager and Partner of private equity and mezzanine investments for Smith Whiley & Company. Ms. Fields manages the Firm’s Illinois office, where she generates investment opportunities in the Midwest and western U.S. Ms. Fields is a member of Smith Whiley’s three-person Executive Committee and she manages the firm’s Illinois office. She is also a senior member of Smith Whiley’s Investment Committee and has overseen the investment and commitment of 33 mezzanine and private equity transactions that the Advisor has directed and managed in its three private equity funds: SW Pelham Fund, L.P., SW Pelham Fund II, LP and SW Pelham Fund III, L.P. Smith Whiley & Company has $300 million under management.

Prior to joining Smith Whiley, Ms. Fields spent 19 years in the commercial finance departments of various financial institutions, including 10 years at Bank of America. During her tenure at Bank of America, she achieved the rank of Senior Vice President, leading a team of originators of highly leveraged transactions in the Midwest and Canadian markets. Prior to joining Bank of America, Ms. Fields managed an investment origination team at Citicorp North America. Ms. Fields began her career at Continental Illinois National Bank in Chicago. During her career, Ms. Fields has structured, closed and/or managed approximately $2 billion in investments in the automotive, aviation, environmental, food, industrial manufacturing, retail, and service sectors.

Since opening the Midwest offices of Smith Whiley & Company she has led a team that has structured and invested over $140 million in sixteen portfolio companies throughout the country.

Ms. Fields serves on the board of several Smith Whiley portfolio companies and she is active in several community and business organizations in the greater Chicago area. Ms. Field has a B.A. degree from Northwestern University and a Masters of Management degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Ms. Fields is the Recipient of the 2004 YWCA Woman of Achievement Award in the Business Category and was acknowledged by Chicago United in 2005 as a Business Leader of Color. She also won an award by the M&A Advisor for Consumer Deal of the Year for one of Smith Whiley’s portfolio companies “Aquion Water Treatment Products”. Ms. Fields was featured as a business leader in the October 2008 and 2009 issues of Crain’s Chicago Business.
