David M. Liebovitz, MD, received his MD from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

His research has focused on improving electronic medical records in areas of patient safety, health care quality and application usability. Specific projects include interface and data presentation enhancements to improve clinician cognitive support, automated learning strategies designed to converge on least privilege granting medical records access, targeted decision support design in the area of medications, laboratory results and problem lists, and practical deployment strategies for office based electronic medical records. He serves on the Information Technology Task Force for the Society of Hospital Medicine and is a member of the State of Illinois Prescription Monitoring Program Advisory Committee.
