can mitigate risk. Research studies the strategy and economics
of operations, as well as its real-time dynamic control
and performance evaluation. Topics include management
and investment under uncertainty, analyzing flexibilty,
network design, pricing and dynamic control of stochastic
processing networks, among others. |

Born
in Belgium, Professor Van Mieghem now lives in Evanston
(Chicago) with his wife and four children. Prior to joining
Kellogg, he worked at Canon Research Center (design engineering),
Seagate Technology (manufacturing), and McKinsey &
Company (management consulting). In his youthful days,
he was a founder and composer of the rock group Tullamore
Dew and of the classical ensemble The Carulli Trio. He
still enjoys biking, mountaineering, singing and skiing. |
