Brian Sternthal is the Kraft Foods Chair in Marketing and is a past Chair of the Marketing Department. He received his Ph.D from the Ohio State University and has been a member of the Kellogg School Faculty since 1972.

Professor Sternthal's research interests are in the area of consumer information processing and judgments. Of particular interest is an understanding of the process by which consumers acquire and use advertising and other marketing information to make judgments and the communication strategies that are implied by this understanding. He has consulted for consumer products firms in the U.S. and in Latin America. He has served as Editor of the Journal of Consumer Research.

Professor Sternthal teaches the advertising course in the M.B.A, Executive Masters Program, and Ph.D programs. He has been the recipient of Teacher of the Year Award in the M.B.A day program and has been recognized by several Executive Masters classes as Elective Course Teacher of the Year.
