Mirroring the Market

Among new courses added to the curriculum each year, many are in areas of global citizenship, ethics, international business, finance, entrepreneurship, technology, and biotechnology.

At many business schools, months can elapse before the administration approves a new course. At Kellogg, it can take as little as two weeks to launch a course on an experimental basis. To do so, Kellogg professors need only meet with the department chairs and the deans to obtain their approval. With the rapidly changing market dynamics, another new program was recently added to the Kellogg School's curriculum in the fall of 2005: Social Enterprise at Kellogg (SEEK).

In the fall of 2003, the Kellogg School added the BASE major — Business and its Social Environment — which is now a part of the new SEEK program. In the 2000-2001 academic year, Kellogg added new majors in Biotechnology Management and Analytical Consulting (the latter major focuses on developing analytical and quantitative skills typically needed for management consulting). In the fall of 1999, a total of three new majors were added: Technology Industry Management, Media Management, and Analytical Finance.
