The Real Estate Club sponsored Kellogg’s first-ever Chicago Real Estate Treks on April 7 and May 19. Nearly 40 students visited seven prominent real estate companies: CB Richard Ellis, Equity Office Properties, General Growth Properties, Hines, The John Buck Company, RREEF, and U.S. Equities Realty. The Treks were designed as small events enabling students to learn about each company, current market trends, and potential career opportunities from industry leaders and Kellogg alumni. Of the 26 professionals who presented to students, 10 were Kellogg alumni. Club Co-Chair Jack Clark ’05 said, “I appreciated the intimate view into each company’s operation and their candid suggestions regarding professional development.” The first Trek also featured a Real Estate Club and KREAC co-sponsored “Happy Hour” at the W Hotel, which was attended by nearly 20 alumni. KREAC VP Richard Monopoli ’02 (Associate, LaSalle Investment Management) remarked, “It is important for alumni to maintain contact with the Kellogg Real Estate Program and to mentor current students. Many of us were in their shoes just a few years ago.” Club Kicks Off Chicago Real Estate Treks. The Treks were co-chaired by Seth Lasser ’05 and Nate Shanok ’05. While the Chicago Real Estate Trek will occur annually, the Club also anticipates future expansion into cities such as New York and San Francisco.
