INSEAD Exchange

Welcome to Kellogg!

We are pleased to offer an exchange program with INSEAD, and believe that Kellogg, from its highly engaged, welcoming student body to its academic focus on marketing and general management, has a lot to offer students seeking to spend a portion of their MBA in the United States.

On this webpage, students will find detailed information about the diverse number of electives available to them, the career services they can take advantage of, information about the Chicago area, and the opportunity to take classes on our flagship campus in Evanston or on our vibrant downtown Chicago campus.

If you have any questions regarding the exchange, please contact the appropriate program manager. We hope to see you in Evanston next spring or fall!

Kellogg- INSEAD Exchange

Each year, 10-15 MBA students exchange from Kellogg to INSEAD, and from INSEAD to Kellogg. Since the program began in 2010, over 100 students have exchanged between the schools.

MBA students receive credit at their home institution for participation in the program, and are able to select the classes they wish to take while on exchange. INSEAD students exchange to Kellogg during the Fall or Spring term, and are eligible to take classes on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses. INSEAD students may stay for 5 weeks (half a Kellogg quarter) or 10 weeks (a full Kellogg quarter). For students interested in networking or interviewing for jobs in the US while they are here, the ten week program is highly recommended. For students not interested in recruiting, spending 10 weeks at Kellogg allows access to more classes and provides more time to integrate into the Kellogg culture.

Class Availability

Kellogg is proud to offer a diverse array of electives to INSEAD students. For 5-week students, there are typically around 20 electives to choose from, across many different departments. For 10-week students, there are typically around 65 electives to choose from.

Historical lists of courses available to INSEAD students can be found by clicking on the links below (lists will open as Excel Files).

INSEAD students who stay at Kellogg for 5 weeks are eligible to take any “-5” courses, which meet for the first half of the term only. Additionally, the exchange program manager works with individual faculty each quarter to secure permission for INSEAD students to enroll in full-term classes and leave after 5 weeks have elapsed (Please note: sometimes this may mean students will submit a deliverable after they depart Kellogg, typically in the 6th week). Due to the more limited number of courses INSEAD students may enroll in, we allow INSEAD students to pre-register for classes before general exchange student registration begins.

Kellogg School of Management is part of Northwestern University (NU), a top-ranked, highly active research institution and member of the Big Ten athletic conference. NU offers a huge diversity of classes across many different subjects, and INSEAD students may also choose to register for NU classes at departments outside the business school. The schedule of classes at other schools within Northwestern can be found here.

Career Services

INSEAD students have access to our world-renowned career services while they are at Kellogg. They are eligible to work directly with our dedicated career counselor for advising sessions, mock interviews, and resume review, and there is no limit to the number of meetings a student can schedule with the career counselor. INSEAD students also have access to Kellogg’s CMC Library for current material, binders, and DVDs on firms. They can attend company presentations by recruiters and meet with company representatives during atrium hours.

INSEAD students may also participate in on-campus recruitment (which takes place during our fall quarter) if a firm specifically invites them to take a closed interview spot. Open interview spots are not available to exchange students.

INSEAD students are not considered alumni of Kellogg, but they are encouraged to join Kellogg’s Exchange Student LinkedIn group to make and maintain business contacts.

Chicago –Area Connections and Information

Chicago Campus

Kellogg’s main campus is located in Evanston, IL, about 10 miles north of downtown Chicago. The idyllic lakefront location is bustling with students and offers many amenities and opportunities for involvement, both within the Kellogg school (approximately 90 full-time student clubs) and in other Northwestern departments. Kellogg’s full-time students take courses in the Jacobs Center.

For those students seeking a more urban environment, Kellogg’s Chicago campus is the perfect option. Our Chicago campus occupies a 20-acre lakefront site bordering the business and financial center of the city on Chicago’s near north side. In addition to Kellogg, the School of Law, the Medical School, the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, and the School of Continuing Studies are all located in this area. Kellogg is housed in historic Wieboldt Hall at 340 East Superior Street, Chicago, IL. The Part-Time MBA program facility includes 17 classrooms and 20 rooms for group study, faculty and administrative offices, a business library, a computer lab, and a recently renovated café.

While on exchange at Kellogg, INSEAD students are eligible to register for classes at the Evanston Campus, the Chicago Campus, or both. There is a free shuttle for students to travel between the two campuses, making the commute easy and efficient.
