Driving Envision Kellogg Forward
March 29, 2012
||I’m delighted that Linda (above) and Tom are onboard to help drive our efforts forward.
Since announcing our strategic plan – Envision Kellogg – last month, we have been focused on moving from concept to action. Key to our success over the next five years is the leadership team we’re putting in place for this journey.
Today, I am delighted to announce two key senior administrative appointments that will help drive our efforts forward. I take pride in the fact that we are building the strongest senior leadership team in our “industry” — a true asset as we envision Kellogg as a global education leader for the 21st century.
Overseeing our Strategic Initiatives
Thomas Hubbard, current chair of the Management and Strategy department, will be joining the Office of the Dean in late spring as our inaugural Senior Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives. In this role, Tom will be responsible for creating Kellogg’s four new research clusters and their associated strategies and structures. He will also oversee the integration of Kellogg’s 24 research centers into this new streamlined and impact-focused structure.
Tom, a world-class scholar of industrial organization and strategy, has been an integral part of the Kellogg strategic planning process over the last year. He will bring both intellectual and practical insight into the creation of our new matrixed research approach as he partners with our faculty and senior administration.
This summer our first impact area, the Kellogg Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative (KIEI), will be launched. As part of this, I am pleased to announce that Linda Darragh will be joining Kellogg on July 1 as Executive Director of the Levy Institute for Entrepreneurial Practice and the Heizer Center for Private Equity and Venture Capital. In this role, she will be Kellogg’s senior administrator overseeing and integrating our curricular, co-curricular, and alumni outreach activities in entrepreneurship, social enterprise, venture capital and private equity.
Navigating Linda’s return to Kellogg as our lead senior executive in this area is a major accomplishment. She is a cornerstone of the Chicago entrepreneurship community and recognized globally as a leader in entrepreneurship education. From 1999 - 2005, she was part of the entrepreneurship team at Kellogg. Since then, she's served as the Director of Entrepreneurship Programs at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she's been instrumental in furthering entrepreneurship.
