Corporate Engagement

For most business leaders, data analytics is no longer an area of specialization. It’s a competitive necessity, a powerful tool that plays an integral role in organizations’ systems, capabilities and culture.

PDAK is committed to supporting business leaders, students and organizations as they embrace these new demands. Along with providing resources, clubs and partnership opportunities, PDAK cultivates an analytics ecosystem in which academic and industry leaders convene to exchange ideas, knowledge and best practices.

Kellogg maximizes its impact by teaming up with companies and organizations from a broad range of industries and sectors. Companies and groups interested in partnering with Kellogg, seeking project support or recruiting students or alumni to board or career roles, have a number of ways to get involved. Faculty Immersion Program

The Faculty Immersion Program teams academic and industry leaders to exchange ideas and solve real-world problems.

Kellogg faculty members conduct site visits to companies operating at the forefront of analytics. They meet with the firms’ business leaders and analytics and data science experts to hear about their triumphs and challenges in working with analytics. Faculty share insights and suggestions, typically generated from research and experience.

These collaborative sessions help firms stay on top of leading research and practice and help educate faculty on real-world uses of analytics.

Past trips have included visits to Facebook in Menlo Park CA, IBM’s Advanced Analytics Lab, in Columbus, Ohio, the City of Chicago’s Department of Information and Technology, and Civis Analytics, a Chicago firm created by the analytics team that handled data mining for President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.

We invite you to host a Faculty Immersion Program at your firm. For more information, please contact Joel Shapiro, Executive Director of the Program in Data Analytics.

Research Partnerships

Formal and informal partnerships between Kellogg professors and industry leaders result in opportunities, such as the Facebook-Kellogg whitepaper that compared advertising measurement approaches. Kellogg Insight explored the findings of professors Florian Zettelmeyer and Brett Gordon, associate professor of marketing, in collaboration with Facebook researchers.
