Brief Overview
Overview
At Kellogg, student clubs are an active and important
part of student life. Open to all students, the clubs plan
events and activities throughout the year, many of which are
outlined in this menu. Listed below for your reference is
a brief description of the clubs followed by a menu listing
of each club's planned activities for the 2005-2006 academic
year in which corporate involvement may be needed. (Note:
Not all sponsorship opportunities may be fully tax deductible
or counted toward Corporate Affiliate status.)
Clubs
African
Business Association (KABA)
The Kellogg African Business Association
(KABA) is a social, cultural, and educational organization
with a mission to develop and broaden interest in African
business and social issues within the Kellogg Community. KABA
provides opportunities to explore the rich African cultural
heritage, to network with professionals and to establish contacts
amongst individuals with a strong interest in developing African
business and infrastructure.
Asian
Management Association (AMA)
Our mission is to enrich the experience
of Kellogg students through a deeper understanding of Asia
and its values by promoting Asian cultures and business insights
to the greater Kellogg community and uniting students through
professional, social and cultural initiatives.
Black
Management Association (BMA)
The BMA
is a social, cultural, educational, and career development
organization. Its mission is to promote academic excellence,
professional development/networking and community involvement
within its core membership. Moreover, the BMA seeks to nurture
and sustain a cross-cultural dialogue, which is a hallmark
of the Kellogg community.
Business
Leadership Club
The mission of the Business Leadership Club (BLC) is to
inspire and facilitate lifelong learning about leadership
and to promote a leader-focused culture at Kellogg. The primary
objectives of the BLC are: to encourage a passion to improve
the world through team leadership; to create the foundation
of a Leadership Development Program at Kellogg; to build awareness
of Kellogg as a premiere institution for the development of
leaders; to expand Kellogg's reach with business and non-business
leaders and recognize outstanding leadership inside and outside
the Kellogg community. The BLC is one of the largest and most
active clubs at Kellogg, counting over 550 First- and Second-Year
students members representing all industries and functional
areas.
Business
With a Heart (BWAH)
BWAH's primary goal
is to encourage those in the Kellogg community to donate their
time and skills to service in the greater Chicago area. BWAH
supports a wide range of activities including educational
programs, community outreach efforts, periodic drives and
annual charity benefits.
Canadian
Club
The Canadian
Club aims to connect members of this invisible minority for
the purposes of teaching other Kellogg students about the
great place we call home. In addition, we hope to spread the
Kellogg name through the Great White North to encourage more
of Canada's best students to apply to and attend Kellogg.
Finally we also hope to serve as a liaison between all students
and Canadian recruiters to expand the scope of job opportunities
for Kellogg graduates in Canada.
Chinese
Business Club
The Chinese
Business Club aims to brand Kellogg and link Kellogg students
with business opportunities in the Greater China region (Hong
Kong, Taiwan and Mainland China). It also helps students gain
a better understanding of thisregion. Club members include
students from this region as well as many students from different
countries who are interested in the culture and/or business
activities in Greater China.
Consulting
Club
The Kellogg
Consulting Club is a student-run organization dedicated to
educating students about opportunities in consulting, supporting
students in obtaining consulting positions and attracting
leading consulting firms to campus. This is accomplished through
various speakers and training sessions, interview and resume
preparation workshops and networking events.
Education Industry Club
The Education
Industry Club (EdInC) seeks to: Raise awareness and broaden
the perceived scope of the education industry and the impact
it has on the United States economy by: 1. Sponsoring and
co-sponsoring guest practitioners and a wide range of thought
leaders for speaking and teaching engagements and 2. Encouraging
and supporting Kellogg students seeking future career and
volunteer opportunities within related fields to promote innovative
applications of business principles to the education industry
through: a. Working with related clubs and the Career Management
Center to bring education industry recruiters and Kellogg
students together through treks, career fairs, information
sessions, etc. b. Providing fellow students with additional
knowledge and expertise to maximize their impact in education-related
volunteerism while at Kellogg by offering primers, panels,
and workshops for students working with education industry
organizations. Students do not need to have any background
in education to become a part of the club.
Emerging Markets Club (KEMC)
KEMC seeks
to prepare the Kellogg School's students to pursue opportunities
in emerging markets by increasing understanding of the issues
and impact of emerging economies on the global community.
Energy
Management Club
The Energy
Management Club is a professional organization dedicated to
developing and broadening the Kellogg community's interest
in the energy industry. The EMC provides both learning and
networking opportunities through a variety of forums emphasizing
the diversity of careers available in the industry. During
the 2006/2007 academic year, we will incorporate forums that
will include guest speakers, networking events, and a career
panel of current and former Kellogg students to discuss their
personal experiences in the energy industry.
European
Business Club
The European Business Club works to promote Kellogg in Europe
and Europe at Kellogg. It aims at initiating, developing,
and sustaining strong links among the following parties: 1)
Current and perspective students interested in Europe; 2)
Worldwide companies in the European Marketplace and European
companies active globally; 3) European alumni worldwide and
all Kellogg alumni working in Europe.
Finance
Club
The Finance Club aims to (i) advance the global reputation
of Kellogg as a premier educational institution in finance,
(ii) promote a comprehensive understanding of finance in all
fields, and (iii) provide recruiting support for students
interested in finance jobs not targeted by other clubs, such
as corporate finance. We serve as an umbrella organization
for corporations to get involved in activities that reach
our diverse audience (including speakers in corporate finance,
financial planning and investment strategy). The club hosts
social events, assists with interview preparation for corporate
finance positions, and coordinates programs across all finance
activities at Kellogg.
Gay
& Lesbian Management Association (GLMA)
The Gay and Lesbian
Management Association at the Kellogg School of Management
exists to: facilitate and enhance current LGBT students’
social, academic, and professional experiences at Kellogg;
increase and enhance the social capital of the entire network
of LGBT Kellogg MBAs (pre-MBAs, current students, and alumni)
in the professional world; and, facilitate understanding and
acceptance of LGBT people in the post-MBA world by reaching
out to Kellogg’s future leaders of the corporate world.
General
Management Club
The General
Management Club's mission is to act as a source of information
and to provide professional development opportunities for
all Kellogg students interested in general management. This
is done through a variety of workshops, speakers, and events
designed to inform members and non-members on general management
issues and to foster networking between students and company
representatives. The Club also aims to prepare students for
general management full-time and internship interviews.
Healthcare
& Biotechnology Club
The mission of the Healthcare and Biotechnology Club is to
educate and inform the Kellogg community on the developments
in all aspects of the healthcare and biotechnology industry,
as well as to develop Kellogg's reputation as the most recognized
and admired healthcare and biotech MBA program. The club also
aims to identify and provide opportunities for students in
recruiting and career development within the healthcare and
biotechnology industry.
High
Tech Club
The High Tech Club works to build connections between Kellogg
and the high-tech community. The club activities are designed
to promote Kellogg within the high-technology industry, help
students find employment with leading firms, broaden perspectives
of the impact of current and future technology trends across
all businesses, and build interest in technology among non-club
members at Kellogg. The High Tech Club welcomes participation
from firms that wish to support this creative and dynamic
group of students.
Hispanic
Business Students Association
The Hispanic Business Students Association (HBSA) is a resource
network for US Latino students at Kellogg. The goals of the
organization are to increase the yield of qualified Latino
students at Kellogg, to coordinate corporate recruiting efforts,
to encourage connections to the Latino community in Chicago
and to build a support network for US Latino students attending
Kellogg.
India
Business Club
The India Business Club (IBC) aims to foster a sense of community
amongst students, faculty and alumni of the Kellogg School
that have a common heritage. While fulfilling this objective,
it offers a forum for the exchange of ideas and business opportunities
both in India and in the United States. Mostimportantly, it
strives to educate the entire Kellogg community on the social,
economic and political issues that influence business in India.
Investment
Banking and Capital Markets Club (IBCMC)
The Investment Banking and Capital Markets Club's (IBCMC)
mission is to advance the Kellogg School's position as a top
business school for investment banking, sales and trading,
and research by attracting top students interested in pursuing
careers in those areas, increasing interest in investment
banking and capital markets among the student body, supporting
students in their preparation for recruiting, and improving
relations with firms.
Investment
Management Club
The Investment Management Club's goal is to expose members
to the investment management process and to help students
pursue careers in asset management or research. The club also
discusses current trends in the marketplace and analyzes stock
proposals.
Kellogg
Automotive Club
The Kellogg Automotive Club is focused on supporting a wide
range of automotive interests within Kellogg. Our Mission
encompasses both professional and recreational aspects of
the automotive industry. We provide value to the Kellogg community
and the automotive industry through a variety of services
and activities that encourage exchange with others interested
in the automotive industry, club trips to various motorsports
venues, developing and maintaining contacts in the automotive
industry, and developing a source of automotive expertise
for the Kellogg community through automotive plant visits
and speaker forums.
Kellogg Corps
Kellogg Corps is a club based upon the spirit of international
volunteerism (i.e. Peace Corps). Students organize several
trips in which they travel to developing countries to provide
free business services to non-profit organizations benefiting
the community. The projects are completed the summer following
graduation from Kellogg.
LAHIMA
The Latin American, Hispanic and Iberian Management Association
(LAHIMA) is meant to promote the presence and culture of all
Spanish and Portuguese speakers in the Kellogg community,
as well to increase the awareness of the Kellogg School brand
throughout all Latin America and the Iberian peninsula. LAHIMA
is currently composed of more than 200 international and U.S.
students.
Marketing
Club
As the largest
student club at Kellogg, the Marketing Club provides academic,
recruiting, and career resources to students interested in
pursuing marketing careers in any industry. We achieve this
through speaker series, workshops, networking events, and
student mentorship in partnership with corporate sponsors
and Kellogg faculty.
Media
& Entertainment Club (MEC)
The Kellogg School of Management's Media & Entertainment
Club is dedicated to promoting and facilitating interaction
between current students, Kellogg alumni, and companies in
the entertainment and media industries. The MEC website provides
both resources and a virtual forum for this interaction, while
MEC sponsored speakers, panels, networking events, and career
workshops provide the Kellogg community with industry insight
and information.
Middle Eastern & Arabic Business Association (MEABA)
MEABA is an organization for students interested in the Middle
Eastern region. The club promotes awareness of business issues
and opportunities in the region and provides a forum for professional
networking among Kellogg students and alumni with an interest
or experience in the Middle East.
Neighborhood
Business Initiative (NBI)
The Neighborhood Business Initiative (NBI) provides
pro-bono consulting services to local non-profits. NBI is
made up of Kellogg students who want to apply their industry
expertise and business experience in a way that positively
impacts the community.
Operations Management Club
The Operations Management Club seeks to raise awareness, interest,
and knowledge about Operations Management among Kellogg students
within and beyond the classroom. Additionally, the club aims
to enhance the image of the major externally by facilitating
contacts with practicing professionals from diverse sectors.
Furthermore, the club seeks to attract industry representatives
to campus by bringing together interested students through
participation in its speaker series, field trips, group lunches,
and other events.
Private
Equity and Entrepreneurship at Kellogg (PEEK)
Private Equity
and Entrepreneurship at Kellogg (PEEK) seeks to provide the
greater Kellogg community with a comprehensive perspective
on entrepreneurship and all stages of private equity investing,
including venture capital and late stage investing. PEEK's
goals include educating members about private equity and entrepreneurship,
strengthening relations with faculty and alumni professionals
and facilitating career and networking opportunities. Our
events and the Private Equity Conference provide members with
an opportunity to learn about the fundamentals, motivation
and inter-relationships that drive successful endeavors in
private equity and entrepreneurship.
Real
Estate Club
The Real Estate Club's purpose is to serve full-time Kellogg
students who are interested in learning more about the real
estate industry or are pursuing a career in the field. The
Club reaches out to the wider community of part-time students,
industry professionals, faculty, and alumni to help strengthen
the educational and career opportunities for Kellogg students.
The Club is extremely active, organizing an annual conference,
speaker events, site visits and publishes a newsletter, The
Real Return.
Retail
Club
The Retail Club provides information resources, career
support and networking opportunities to Kellogg students interested
in the retail industry. The club does so by offering speaker
and faculty series, career workshops and panels on the retail
industry, as well as networking events that strengthen relationships
between Kellogg students and retail corporations and affiliations.
Social
Impact Club
One of the largest student clubs at Kellogg, the Social
Impact Club supports student interest in socially responsible
business, nonprofit, and public management. Our goals are
to strengthen the community of Kellogg students, faculty,
and alumni who have a shared interest in Social Impact's mission;
educate members about the many different educational and career
opportunities currently available to business students with
an interest in having a social impact, and work with Kellogg
to strengthen and expand these opportunities; and inspire
members of the entire Kellogg community to apply business
skills toward positive social impact through organizations
in the non-profit, public and private sectors.
Sports
Business Club
The Sports Business Club aims to provide students interested
in a career in sports with an increased awareness of the current
issues facing the sports industry, as well as a broad range
of opportunities in such functional areas as marketing, finance,
operations, general management and strategy development. The
objective is to allow students to utilize their management
skills in such fields as sporting goods and apparel manufacturing,
consumer goods marketing, sports consulting, multimedia sports
content providers, event management, and professional leagues
and teams.
Transportation
Club
The Transportation
Club is dedicated to helping students learn about and find
transportation-related employment and broaden their understanding
of transportation-related issues. The club also provides a
forum for networking with other students and alumni and interacting
with faculty. The club seeks to attract industry representatives
to campus by bringing together interested students through
participation in its speaker series, field trips, group lunches,
and other events.
Veteran's
Club
The Kellogg Veterans Club promotes fellowship among current
and former service members; assists and mentors members throughout
the summer and full-time job hunt; helps Veterans apply to
Kellogg, facilitates the military transition to b-school life;
and serves as an Ambassador for the military to the Kellogg
student body.
Women’s
Business Association (WBA)
The mission
of the Kellogg Women's Business Association (WBA) is to provide
professional and personal development opportunities for women
at Kellogg through a variety of workshops, speakers, and events.
It serves as a source of information, networking, and advice
to its diverse membership and facilitates the exchange of
ideas, interests, and resources among its members and the
business community.
Kellogg
Student Association (KSA)
The Kellogg Student Association's Executive Committee and
Board constitute the elected student government of the Kellogg
School of Management's full-time program. Their mission is
to enrich the Kellogg experience by representing student interests,
providing resources and leadership for student activities,
and partnering with administration, faculty, and students
to initiate positive change.
Career
Management Center
The
Career Management Center (CMC) is the office that coordinates
all Kellogg recruiting efforts including the organization
of career forums, career nights, and all specific recruiting
needs (presentations, interview schedules, etc.). The CMC
Student Committee is the liaison between the CMC and the student
body. The committee handles the communication of issues and
concerns to and from the students as well as the resolution
of recruiting process violations.
