Applications for fall 2009 admission to the Managerial Analytics Certificate Program will be due towards the end of the winter quarter, 2009.

Prerequisites for the Managerial Analytics Certificate

All Northwestern University undergraduate students who satisfy or are on track to satisfy the prerequisite courses may apply to the Managerial Analytics Certificate regardless of their school or major. Like the Financial Economics Certificate, the Managerial Analytics Certificate includes prerequisite courses in the areas of calculus and linear algebra, econometrics/statistics, probability, and microeconomics.   Students interested in the Managerial Analytics Certificate also must complete one prerequisite course in optimization.  Ideally, students will take the calculus and linear algebra prerequisites during their freshman year and the probability, econometrics/statistics and optimization prerequisites during their sophomore year. The microeconomics course may be taken in either the freshman or sophomore year. Typically, students submit their application at the end of their sophomore year, although juniors may apply as well.

Completing the prerequisites does not guarantee admission to the program. Admission to the program is competitive and based on grades, letters of recommendation and a short essay. Students should have completed at least five of the prerequisite courses before applying at the end of the winter quarter, and must complete all of them before starting the program in the fall.  There are many different ways to satisfy the certificate prerequisites, and the most common ones are shown below. Some of the courses have their own prerequisites, which are determined by the department offering them. Interested students should check the Undergraduate Catalog or appropriate department for more details.
