Through a partnership between the Kellogg School and Northwestern University Career Services, students in the certificate program work with a dedicated career services professional who combines NU’s Career Services’ knowledge of undergraduate students and traditional undergraduate job opportunities with the Kellogg School’s expertise in business-related career management. The certificate program’s career adviser will guide students in identifying career paths suitable to their individual needs based on self-assessment and decision-making tools, setting appropriate career goals, and developing competency in job search skills for success now and in the future.

In their junior year, certificate program students will be offered a series of workshops and individual advising sessions to customize their job search. One outcome of this process will be identifying either a summer internship or academic research opportunity for the summer prior to the senior year.

The student’s senior year will start with identifying post-graduation goals, followed by additional advising sessions driven by the student’s needs. Supplementing these individual meetings will be a series of professional development workshops designed exclusively for certificate program students.

Under the guidance of the career adviser dedicated to this program, students will be well prepared to leverage their academic achievements to pursue rewarding careers in their chosen field. The end result will be a rich, unique career development experience as a basis for long-term career management in business related opportunities. The goal is to provide these students with excellent preparation to link their academic accomplishments with experiential learning to launch their careers upon graduation.
