Overview
We had yet another outstanding year for recruiters here at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. The health of the job market and a wonderful graduating class made this a particularly exciting year in terms of the wide range of opportunities students chose to pursue.
Perhaps the most dramatic areas of change include the number of students starting their own business, over 4%, and the numbers going into high tech companies, over 15%. The increase in people doing something entrepreneurial is a dramatic one for us. The entrepreneurial fever has been high at Kellogg the last few years and this year, we saw it convert itself into something very concrete. Faculty, students and administrators are very excited about the increased activity in this area.
High tech interest continues to grow in the school. This year we added a major in e-commerce, held our own High Tech Career Fair in Silicon Valley and had a solid increase in the number of students heading into this fast growing industry.
But even with all this new excitement we were still able to provide the needed graduates for our more traditional clients in consulting, banking, consumer products and the like.
Last year we restructured the way we work with our employer friends. We now have three account managers who each serve different industries. In addition, each of the counseling staff has taken on certain industries to partner with on strategic recruiting issues. We have received positive feedback from you on both of these changes.
We are energized by all the changes in the job market today. Although we do not yet know what the next year will bring, we are encouraged by the feedback we have received from you and anticipate another strong year. The partnership formed by students, employers and the team in the Kellogg Career Management Center make all of these good things possible. Thanks so much to all of you for your continued support of Kellogg.
