Policies

The policies and guidelines of the recruiting process at the Kellogg School were developed in the best interests of our students, faculty and corporate recruiters. The positive outcome of our recruiting process is enhanced by strict adherence to these policies.

First-Year (Internship) Decision Deadline

  • The students must be given until February 29, 2012, or one week, whichever is longer to accept or reject the offer. Students may accept an offer before February 29th if they so desire; however, they cannot be obligated to respond sooner.

Second-Year (Full Time) Decision Deadline

  • If the offer is from the student’s summer intern employer from an internship that was obtained through the on-campus recruiting process, the student must be given until December 1, 2011, or three weeks, whichever is longer to accept or reject the offer. Students may accept an offer before December 1st if they so desire; however, they cannot be obligated to respond sooner.
  • For all other offers, the student must be given until January 13, 2012, or three weeks, whichever is longer to accept or reject the offer. Students may accept an offer before January 13th if they so desire; however, they cannot be obligated to respond sooner.

The student body will be notified of employers who choose not to respect these guidelines.

Only current Kellogg students who are eligible to use Career Management Services may be interviewed in our facility. Northwestern undergraduate and non-Kellogg graduate students may not be interviewed during your on-campus schedules.

Northwestern University is an equal opportunity, affirmative action educator and employer.

Northwestern University reserves the right to change without notice any statement on its web site concerning, but not limited to, rules, policies, tuition, fees, curricula, and courses.

Northwestern University does not discriminate or permit discrimination by any member of its community against any individual on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, parental status, marital status, age, disability, citizenship, or veteran status in matters of admissions, employment, housing, or services or in the educational programs or activities it operates.

Harassment, whether verbal, physical, or visual, that is based on any of these characteristics is a form of discrimination. This includes harassing conduct affecting tangible job benefits, interfering unreasonably with an individual's academic or work performance, or creating what a reasonable person would sense is an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.

While Northwestern University is committed to the principles of free inquiry and free expression, discrimination and harassment identified in this policy are neither legally protected expression nor the proper exercise of academic freedom.

For advice or assistance regarding this policy, see the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access web site.

Disabilities Statement

It is Northwestern University policy to ensure that no qualified student with a disability is denied the benefits of, excluded from participation in, or otherwise subjected to discrimination in any University program or activity. In response to a request made by a qualified student with a disability, the University will arrange, at no cost to the student, for the provision of educational auxiliary aids, including sign language interpreters, determined by the University to be necessary to afford such student the opportunity for full participation in University programs.

Students invited to visit a company site should be reimbursed promptly for all expenses incurred during the visit. Please be accommodating of a student's class schedule and course load when scheduling callbacks. Students will attempt to divide expenses among recruiting companies when more than one company is visited during a single trip. Recruiting organizations should clearly state the specifics of their invitations.
If a firm withdraws an offer made to a student for any reason, the recruiting contact is asked to notify the director of the Career Management Center as soon as possible. Similarly, if a student reneges on an acceptance of employment with a recruiting company, the director also should be notified so that a thorough review of the situation can be made. The faculty and administration of Kellogg consider reneging on acceptances to be unethical behavior.
