The
Kellogg School will make a difference in your
world, so you can make a difference in the
world.
Kellogg
School students are generous with their time and talents,
donating a remarkable amount of their energy to philanthropic
ventures through student-organized activities and
on their own. Business With a Heart (BWAH), the umbrella
group for Kellogg student charitable work, coordinates
more than 17 philanthropic activities including food,
clothing and toy drives, tutoring, community service
days, and a safe trick-or-treat event for area children.
In a typical year, BWAH raises as much as $150,000
for charity through student-led events such as the
Charity Auction and Ball.
Putting your MBA to good work
Students also have founded nonprofit organizations
during their Kellogg tenure, including a program that
rewards children for reading, and a Chicago-based
initiative to attract highly qualified young people
to teach at inner-city schools.
And 2006 graduate Andrew Youn’s One
Acre Fund, which he started during his second
year at Kellogg following an inspirational summer
internship in South Africa, has garnered numerous
awards and grants for its work in reducing poverty
and hunger in Africa.
Kellogg Corps
In 1996, a group of Kellogg students formed Kellogg
Corps, a volunteer summer-service program that
places teams of recent Kellogg graduates in developing
countries, where their management skills are used
to support nonprofit agencies. Recent graduates have
worked with a women’s center in Ghana to develop
and implement fundraising strategies, improved the
operating efficiency of a Costa Rican agricultural
cooperative’s processing plant, and helped provide
education, healthcare and vocational training opportunities
for children in Nicaragua.
