| “CIM
Week set the tone for my Kellogg experience
— incredible, intense and inspirational.
In that fi rst week, I met people from
all over the world, pursuing every career
path. CIM not only introduced me to the
extraordinary breadth of activities available
at Kellogg, but also to the depth and
diversity of talent among my classmates.
As a second-year student on the CIM Executive
Committee, I organized and led a community
service day in Chicago for the incoming
class. Introducing the new students to
the Kellogg experience and values was
as rewarding to me as my own CIM Week.” |

Orientation
Kellogg
students take their academics seriously, and they
know how to make learning engaging. Here, orientation
is like no other: your days are filled with intensive
academics, creative and challenging team-building
exercises, and non-stop camaraderie as you immerse
yourself in the Kellogg culture during the “Pre-Term”
program. This introduction to Kellogg has three key
components for Two-Year (2Y) and MMM students:
-
Complete Immersion in Management (CIM) orientation
for new students
-
Technology Education @Kellogg, known as TEKcamp,
to get you up and running with the latest tools
in the Kellogg networked environment
-
The highly engaging required core class, Leadership
in Organizations.
Designed primarily to introduce first-year students
to each other and to the Kellogg School’s collaborative
culture, CIM features interactive workshops on diversity,
leadership and global issues, as well as social events
and a community service project.
Leadership in Organizations is an intensive, full-credit
course that consists of 10 three-hour class sessions,
plus a final examination. The course highlights issues
relating to leadership, teamwork, ethics and competitive
advantage through people and how they are organized.
Students in the One-Year
(1Y) MBA Program, who start in June and complete
their degree in June one year later, enjoy a CIM experience
in their first week on campus that, like their curriculum,
is a condensed version of the 2Y program, reflecting
the 1Y student’s undergraduate and professional
business background. One-Year students also get a
thorough grounding in Kellogg technology right away
with TEKcamp. Then, during summer term, 1Y students
complete Values and Crisis Decision-Making, the required
course that 2Y students will take in Pre-Term when
they return for their second year following summer
internships. When 2Y students return in the fall,
1Y students join that class and complete the program
with their second-year peers.
Pre-Term is a mandatory program for all students.
