Things to think about to prepare for Business School

While an undergraduate:


Academics:

•  Take the GMAT during your senior year, while you are still in test-taking mode

•  Take classes in either calculus or statistics to build a quantitative background

Career:

•  Networking/Informational Interviews for your career

•  Reach out to alumni of your undergraduate institution working in careers that interest you

While an undergraduate / As a young professional:

Extracurricular Involvement:

•  Get involved in extracurricular activities/hobbies that interest you

•  Pursue activities that help you be a well-rounded individual

•  Be consistent over time with your involvement

Focus on your Finances:

•  Reduce your consumer debt

•  Minimize your school debt although it can go into deferment during graduate school

As a young professional:

Career:

•  Pursue work (industries, organizations and functions) that excite you

•  Go above and beyond-seek out more responsibility and take initiative

•  Continue to nurture and expand your network

•  Seek out mentors: business school alumni, co-workers, etc

Research Business Schools:

•  Visit campuses of schools that interest you

•  Talk with alumni of those institutions

•  Seek out current students of business schools and get their perspectives

•  Do in-depth research about program offerings at each institution

Remember:

•  Pursue a career in which you are interested and you will be successful

•  Regularly engage in self-reflection about your likes/dislikes/skills, etc. and how that relates to a business school education

•  Be true to yourself and your interests and don't try to "create" a good package-just be your genuine self
