April 2011 Malcolm MacEachern Symposium: Accountable Care Organizations Featured
The 2011 Malcolm MacEachern Symposium will be held at the James L. Allen Center. This year, the symposium will focus on what the health reform legislation will mean for the wider healthcare community, with a special focus on accountable care organizations. The Malcolm MacEachern Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Lawton R. (Rob) Burns, a professor and the chair of the healthcare management program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Kotler and Shalowitz ‘tour de force’ receives Italian translation Marketing is the lens through which Kellogg Professors Philip Kotler and Joel Shalowitz '82 examine the healthcare industry in their new book Strategic Marketing for Health Care Organizations: Building a Customer-Driven Health Care System. Artz is the medical director of information systems and chief medical information officer of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and an associate professor in the institution’s department of medicine. Before joining Sloan-Kettering, he was the medical director of information services at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a physician at the Feinberg School of Medicine. Maureen Bisognano, President and CEO of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Boston, gave the 50th Malcolm T. MacEachern Memorial Lecture at the Tuesday, March 22, 2011 Luncheon at the ACHE Congress on Healthcare Leadership. Ms. Bisognano's address was "Leading and Thriving in the Brave New Times" and was heard by the 1,800 participants attending the event. |
Alumni Notes Gurpreet Singh ’03, a principal of Diamond Advisory Services, moderated the pharma panel on social media for the last Kellogg healthcare conference. Larry Grace ’03 is the Asia-Pacific lead of personalized medicine for Novartis. Previously, he was the site head in Cambridge, where most of the company’s R&D is located. Vikram Karnani ’07 now works for Fenwal Inc. in Lake Zurich, IL. Karan Arora ’06 is the director of global corporate development and strategy at Hospira in Lake Forest, IL. Carl Taibl ’90 has joined the board of healthcare nonprofit Global Healing. He is also the chief financial officer of ConnectEd: The California Center for College and Career.
