The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) establishes Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HEDIS) criteria that are used in evaluating health plans. NCQA's State of Managed Care Quality 2000 Report released in September 2000 is available on the Web site and represents information from 466 health plans that cover some 51 million people.

The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) Web site contains links to other healthcare Web sites. These links include U.S. healthcare associations and societies, US government healthcare agencies, state healthcare organizations and societies, international organizations, condition & illness related organization, comprehensive medical references & societies, consumer healthcare organizations & information sources, and JCAHO satellite network.

Foundation for Accountability (FACCT) is an alliance of healthcare purchasers and consumers that will endorse, advocate, and promote a common set of patient-oriented measures of healthcare quality. FACCT's objective is "those who buy and receive health care will take the lead in mapping a course for an accountable health system."
