A Message
from the Dean
Entrepreneurs
are the future of our economy. As their numbers have grown,
so has the Kellogg School’s Entrepreneurship & Innovation
Program. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of students
and alumni who start their own business or become part of
entrepreneurial ventures. New classes and events are constantly
being added.
Entrepreneurship
and Innovation is consistently one of the most popular majors
at Kellogg. It offers a stimulating, multifaceted curriculum
that cuts across all disciplines to give students the tangible
and intangible tools they need to go out on their own. Students
are taught by revered academicians and practitioners, as well
as such prominent guest speakers as Bill Gates. This combination
of academic rigor and cutting-edge “real world”
business expertise provides students with a solid base of
knowledge and practical know-how that they can apply to their
entrepreneurial venture whenever they pursue it.
A major
component of the program is the Larry
and Carol Levy Institute for Entrepreneurial Practice.
Established in 2003 by Larry Levy, prominent restaurateur
and Kellogg School alum, and his wife, Carol, the Institute
focuses on managing student participation in business plan
competitions, executive education for entrepreneurs, expanding
the entrepreneurship summer internship program, developing
additional courses and case studies, and identifying new faculty
members. We also are fortunate to have the Heizer
Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, which was created
in 1988 through an endowment by venture capitalist Edgar F.
Heizer Jr. and his wife to support research projects.
We are
pleased to announce a new relationship with the National
Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship. In addition
we have recently established a partnership between our Executive
Education program and Inc. magazine, one of the world’s
top publications for entrepreneurs. We also recently completed
our first private equity internship
program. As you can see, our entrepreneurship program
is constantly evolving. By the time you read this, we no doubt
will have initiated other programs, true to the entrepreneurial
spirit. |
