Case Competition 2009

Applications

An interesting and challenging case will be introduced for the first time in this year’s competition.

Teams of MBA students are welcome from business schools around the world.  Teams should be comprised of 3- 5 students. Part-time and full-time 1st and 2nd year MBA students are welcome to apply.

The top 3 teams will receive cash prizes ($5,000, $1,500 and $500). The first place winners will also get to meet Genzyme's CEO and top executives in Boston. Students will apply to enter the case competition by submitting a team statement of interest, and work experience.  Applications are due by 5:00 pm (CST) on December 15th, 2008. Selected teams will be notified via email by December 18th, 2008.

Teams will receive the case on Friday, January 23, 2009 and will submit their presentations to the Kellogg Center for Biotechnology by Friday, January 30, at 5:00 pm (CST).  Students should only use the information in the case when preparing their recommendation, no outside sources.

Presentations will take place in Room 140 at the Allen Center on Saturday, January 31, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Each team will have 20 minutes to present, including Q&A from the Judges.  The presentation order will be determined by a random drawing, and published in advance.

Judges will evaluate the presentations for strategic thinking, clarity, enthusiasm and analytical rigor.  Leaders from Genzyme will debrief on the case, with the winners announced immediately thereafter during cocktails and dinner.

Students are responsible for their own travel expenses and accommodations.
