ALUMNI KEYNOTE / SPEAKER 2 » Bill McDermott (KSM '97)

President, Global Field Operations and Executive Board Member (formerly President and CEO of SAP Americas)
SAP AG

Bill McDermott is a member of the executive board of SAP AG, the largest business software company in the world. He serves as the President of Global Field Operations, overseeing the company's strategic business activities around the globe. Previously, McDermott had been responsible for managing SAP's operations in the United States, Canada and Latin America and in the Asia Pacific Japan region, which includes Japan, China, and India.

McDermott is an active community leader and advocate for corporate social responsibility. On May 28, 2008, he was named Idealist of the Year by City Year Greater Philadelphia, for his civic leadership and "commitment to improving the community and the lives of those who live in Philadelphia." McDermott was honored for helping break down social barriers, promoting community service, and making the city a better place.

McDermott received an MBA degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and he completed the Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Graduate School of Management. He received his B.S. degree in business administration from Dowling College.


 

KEYNOTE SPEAKER 1 » Rob Tarkoff

SVP & GM of Business Productivity Business Unit
Adobe Systems Inc.

Rob Tarkoff leads Adobe's development of comprehensive, integrated technologies and solutions for the desktop and enterprises who want to engage their customers and constituents with information more efficiently and effectively. He oversees Adobe products including the Acrobat Family, Adobe Livecycle Enterprise Suite (ES), and Acrobat Connect Professional for Web Conferencing and eLearning.

Tarkoff joined Adobe in April 2007 as senior vice president of corporate development to lead activities related to Adobe’s strategic planning, alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and new business initiatives.

Tarkoff is a member of the board of directors for Borland Software Corporation and previously served on the board of directors for Onyx Software. Tarkoff holds a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College.



 

KEYNOTE SPEAKER 3 » Arnaud Robert

Corp VP, Emerging Technologies & Media Security
The Walt Disney Company

Arnaud Robert is Corporate Vice President, Emerging Technology & Media Security for The Walt Disney Company. In his role, Arnaud guides the company and its business units through the rapidly changing digital media distribution ecosystem, drives consumer enablement efforts, and also provides insights on related emerging technologies. In addition, Arnaud leads the content protection technology strategy for the company and is directly involved in deployment projects across Disney's varied media enterprises. Arnaud has previously held senior positions at Thomson-Technicolor, Microsoft, Nagravision-Kudelski, and start-up ventures.

Arnaud has extensive background in digital media distribution platforms, media commerce, signal processing, cryptography, and brain modeling. He holds a doctorate and masters of Computer Science from the Swiss Institute of Technology, as well as a degree in Communication Systems from the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal. Arnaud has more than a dozen patents issued or pending in emerging media technologies, has published over thirty broadly distributed scientific papers in new media.

BusinessWeek columnist, host of Yahoo's TechTicker and author of "Once You're Lucky, Twice You're Good: The Rebirth of Silicon Valley and the Rise of Web 2.0"

Sarah Lacy is an award winning journalist and author of the critically acclaimed book, "Once You're Lucky, Twice You're Good: The Rebirth of Silicon Valley and the Rise of Web 2.0" (Gotham Books, May 2008). Lacy has been a reporter in Silicon Valley for more than a decade, covering everything from the tiniest startups to the largest public companies, most recently for BusinessWeek. Currently, Lacy writes a biweekly column for BusinessWeek.com called "Valley Girl," co-hosts Yahoo! Finance's TechTicker, blogs at SarahLacy.com and has just started work on her second book. She's a regular guest on national TV and radio and a frequent speaker at technology and business conferences around the world. She lives in San Francisco.
