Matching gift programs are a great way for companies to give back to the community by contributing to organizations designated by their employees. Each year, hundreds of Kellogg alumni are able to double — even triple — the size of their annual gifts to Kellogg through their companies' matching gift programs.
Who is eligible? Companies may match gifts from their employees, retirees, board members and other affiliates. Spouses of these affiliates may also be eligible for a match, so gifts have the potential to be matched by more than one company. Click here to find out if your company matches gifts to Kellogg
How do I have my gift matched? In most cases, your company's human resources or personnel office can provide a matching gift form. You should fill out the donor portion of the form and then send it to the Kellogg School, either with your gift or after your gift has been sent.
The university will fill out the recipient institution's portion of the form, verifying receipt of the gift, and then will return the form to the company. Some companies have toll-free numbers or Web sites that you can use to register a gift to be matched.
What will the amount of the match be? Different companies match at different ratios. Some companies also have minimum and/or maximum dollar amounts they will match for any particular gift. Most companies have a limit on the dollar amount they'll match per employee per year.
Am I credited for the match? The match will count toward your overall giving level. It is not tax deductible for you, nor does it count towards a pledge payment. In other words, you will receive a "soft" credit for the match, but not "legal" credit.
