Libraries
The Schaffner Library, located on the second floor of Wieboldt Hall, was established as a special library in economics and business in memory of Joseph Schaffner, a Chicago businessman, Northwestern University trustee and strong supporter of continuing education.

The library contains approximately 110,000 volumes and pamphlets, and it subscribes to more than 1,000 periodicals and serial publications. The library acquires most materials needed for Part-Time Program courses, and although it is not considered a research library, it does provide several bibliographic aids.

Your student I.D. card is your ticket to library privileges at the Schaffner Library and at the University Library on the Evanston campus.

Computing
All students enrolled in the Part-Time MBA Program must have access to a personal computer with Internet access.

You’ll need your computer to register for courses, download coursework, complete homework assignments, and stay in touch with your classmates. If you don’t already have a computer (or if you’re just ready to upgrade), being a Kellogg student qualifies you for certain discounts on computer hardware and software.

For your convenience, the Schaffner Library in Wieboldt Hall contains a Kellogg-only computer lab. In addition, network data jacks and power outlets are available in student breakout/meeting rooms, study carrels in the Kellogg reading room, and in some classrooms.

New students learn all they need to know about computing at Kellogg in the required technology workshop. For students who wish to learn more, additional free workshops are offered throughout the year. All sessions focus on the applications used at the Kellogg School.

Abbott Hall Bookstore
Students purchase books, case packets, software and other school supplies at the Abbott Hall Bookstore, located at 710 N. Lake Shore Drive (at the corner of Superior Street and inner Lake Shore Drive). The offices for parking permits and student I.D. cards also are located in Abbott Hall.

Additional Student Services
There are many student services available to part-time students. Some of them are:

  • Access to Northwestern University Libraries
  • Discounted Chicago Campus Parking
  • Inter-Campus and Metra Shuttle Services
  • Lounges and Cafeterias in Wieboldt Hall
  • Recreational Facilities on both the downtown and Evanston campuses
  • Student Health Services
  • Tickets to NU concerts and theatre events, as well as athletic events
