FAQs About Off-Campus Interviews
Posted by Jessica Seymour 02/20/09

Hi Everyone! I am the Admissions Officer who oversees the Alumni Admissions Organization which coordinates all off-campus interview assignments between alumni and applicants.

As we are in the midst of Round 2 and Round 3 is just a short ways away, I thought that I would take this opportunity to address some commonly asked questions about off-campus interviews assignments, deadlines, etc.

When will I receive my assignment?

We do our best to get assignments out within six to eight weeks of the initial interview request (i.e. when you submitted Part 1). If you interview request comes in close to or on the deadline, it may take us a little bit longer to get the assignment to you because we receive the greatest number of requests around that date. Please do not worry about receiving your assignment – if all the information that you submitted in Part 1 is correct, we will be happy to assign you!

How soon do I need to conduct my interview once I receive the assignment?

We ask that you complete your interview within thirty days of the assignment; however, we understand that you and your interviewer may have conflicting schedules and that it may be difficult to complete your interview within that time frame. If this is the case, please simply schedule your interview as soon as possible.

Do I need to contact the Alumni Admissions Organization to update them on the status of my interview once it has been completed?

No, it is not necessary to contact us once you have completed your interview.

How do I check the status of my application?

To check the status of your application, you can visit here.

Can I change my request from off-campus to on-campus since I’m going to be traveling to Chicago/Evanston?

Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate requests to change interviews from off-campus to on-campus.

Why was my interview waived?

There are a few reasons why you may receive an interview waiver:

1. There are no Kellogg alumni in your immediate area.

2. The Kellogg alumni in your area are at capacity and/or there have been a large number of requests in your area which the available alumni cannot fully accommodate.

Can I request an interview if mine has been waived?

No, unfortunately you cannot request an interview after you assignment has been waived; however, if we believe that an interview will be helpful in further evaluating your candidacy or aid us in rendering a decision, an admissions officer may contact you for a phone interview.

This is just a sampling of some questions that I have come across often; I hope this is helpful. We do our best to make the process as easy as possible.

Have a great weekend and good luck!
