You have pressed the submit button. Now what?!
Posted by Deena Williams 10/27/09

If you submitted your application in round 1, congratulations! You have completed a rather rigorous process and now you are anxiously awaiting your interview and/or admissions decision.

So what happens to your application once you hit the submit button? Once round 1 ended, we began the process of printing and assembling application files. An application is complete once we have received parts 1 and 2, the career progress surveys, an official GMAT report and the interview report. If you have not yet interviewed, your application is on hold for review. On-campus interviews must be completed by December 11th so if you have not already done so, please call our office to schedule your interview. If you have chosen to interview off-campus, you will receive a match with an alumni interviewer within 6 weeks after submitting part 1. If you have not received a match after 8 weeks, please call our office for assistance. Once the interview is complete and the report has been received, your application is complete and enters the review process.

Each application goes through a rigorous review process. The first review is done by a member of our Student Admissions Committee and the second review is done by an Admissions Officer. The director reviews each application and makes all final decisions. If you are a re-applicant, we will also review your previous applications.  We use a holistic approach to review applicants and our admissions criteria includes intellectual ability, career experience, career focus, demonstrated leadership, extracurricular activities, personal qualities and fit for the program.

Applications are read in random order and we release decisions on a rolling basis. Once a final decision has been made on your application (accept, wait list or deny), your decision will be posted on your Check Status page. I’m sure that you have already bookmarked this page and over the next few weeks will begin the habit of pressing F2 frequently hoping for good news. Please be patient. It will take the next few months for us to process all round 1 applications and you will receive a decision by January 7, 2010.

We have an Application notes and updates page on our website where the Operations Manager posts updates about the application process. There is an RSS feed as well if you’d like to get news as soon as it is posted.
