Specialized Program Preview Day

Overview
Specialized Program Preview Day will provide prospective MBA students with an opportunity to learn more about the One Year, MMM, and JD-MBA Programs. You’ll experience each program’s vibrant academic community by attending classes and meeting with students, while also learning about available career options.

Accommodations
We have reserved a block of rooms at the following hotel for the preview day. Contact the hotel directly to book a hotel room and identify yourself as a participant in the Specialized Program Preview Day at the Kellogg School to receive the special rate. You must reserve a room by the date noted below to receive the special rate. Please reference the Northwestern Program Preview Day rate when speaking to the hotel representative.

PLANNING TRAVEL

Traveling to Kellogg

Major airlines fly into both O’Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport. O’Hare Airport is approximately 45 minutes from Kellogg and Midway Airport is approximately 60 minutes from Kellogg.

Taxi
Taxi service from both airports can be arranged in advance of your visit for a reduced fare. Pre-arranged rides start at approximately $35 from O’Hare and $50 from Midway. For up-to-date fare information, please contact a taxi service directly.

Shared Van Service
Leaving from the O’Hare airport the cost for a shuttle to Evanston is approximately $62.00 round trip. If you will be flying into the Midway airport the shuttle cost would be approximately $114.00 round trip. Please click on the link below for additional details

Public Transportation
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) maintains an extensive system of elevated trains (also known as “the El”) and buses throughout Chicago and Evanston. The Evanston El stop closest to Kellogg is the Purple Line stop at Foster. While inexpensive, taking the CTA from the airport can take up to 90 minutes including transfers. Please plan your trip accordingly. The CTA offers a free trip-planning tool at http://www.transitchicago.com/

Parking
If you plan to drive to campus, please proceed to the James L. Allen Center, which is located at 2169 Campus Drive, to get a parking permit and further instruction on where to park your vehicle. (enter via north parking lot which is located one block north of the Foster/Sheridan traffic light on the left hand side and proceed west towards the lake, Allen Center will be to your left). If you park in a lot without the required permit, you will be ticketed. Due to very limited parking, we encourage you to use alternate means of transportation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

How do I schedule an interview?
A limited number of priority interview slots have been reserved for Specialized Program Preview Day participants on Monday October 10th. These spots are available on a first-come first-served basis. Once you have registered and completed Part 1 of the Kellogg application, you may contact the admissions office at 847-491-3308 to schedule an interview. Please identify yourself as a Specialized Program Preview Day participant. The attire for interviews is business and you must bring a copy of your resume for the interviewer.

You are not required to complete your interview during this event. You may prefer to interview at some other time either on-campus or off-campus with an alumni in order to not miss out on programing during the day. Please visit the admissions website for further information on the interview process.

Do I have to complete a long application including essays in order to attend Specialized Program Preview Day?
No, you must complete the online registration form in order to enroll for this event. The information collected will help us plan for the event and in not used for evaluation purposes. It will not affect your application.

Should I attend this event if I do not plan to apply to Kellogg this year?
Yes. We know that it may take time to decide if an MBA is right for you. We also know that gathering information is critical when you are trying to decide to which school you will apply. This event can provide much of the information that you need about the Kellogg School and the programs that we offer.

Does the Kellogg School cover the cost of transportation and lodging for participants?
No, we do not cover the cost of transportation and lodging for this event. However, we have reserved a block of rooms at an area hotel to ensure room availability and to help keep the cost down. Hotel information is included above. The Kellogg School does cover the cost of breakfast and lunch for the day.

What is the attire for the day’s activities?
The attire for this event is business casual. However, if you have scheduled an interview please dress in business attire.

Can I bring a significant other to this event?
Unfortunately, space is very limited so this event is only for potential applicants to the Kellogg School. There are many events throughout the year at Kellogg at which spouses and significant others are welcome such as conferences and just about any other time you come to visit the school.

How do I cancel my attendance at this event?
If you have registered for the Specialized Program Preview Day and can no longer attend this event, please send an email to mbaevents@kellogg.northwestern.edu so that we may offer your spot to another candidate. Also, if you have scheduled an interview and cancel your attendance at this event, you need to contact the admissions office at 847-491-3308 or via email at MBAAdmissions@kellogg.northwestern.edu to cancel your interview.
