Global Initiatives in Management
The Global Initiatives in Management program

The Global Initiatives in Management (GIM) program combines traditional classroom learning with structured research projects conducted abroad. For many students, it is one of the highlights of their EMBA experience.

Students may choose this elective course during the second year of the program, visiting a location participants select. The GIM course includes five weeks of classroom instruction on the culture, economic climate and business conditions of the selected country, followed by a research trip to the studied destination during spring break. During their visit to the country or countries studied, students visit companies and meet with industry leaders to carry out the primary research necessary to complete their group projects.

Each year, about 100 EMBA students participate in the GIM program. In the past four years, students have visited Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing, China, as well as Chile and Argentina.
