The Kellogg faculty is world-renowned for its contributions in fields such as marketing, finance, strategy, game theory, negotiations, operations management and accounting. Each year, Kellogg professors welcome new doctoral students into their research communities and are eager to train the next generation of scholars. On average the faculty offers approximately 40 doctoral seminars a year in which they share current knowledge and, more significantly to students, the process by which that knowledge was gained and the puzzles that remain. Other fields at Northwestern University, including economics, psychology, political science and sociology, also provide training in the fundamental disciplines that underlie much of the research in business.
Our graduates understand that successful academic research requires a balance of boldness and caution. A researcher is an entrepreneur offering new ideas, rather than products or services, and often those ideas run contrary to conventional wisdom. Some courage is needed to present new research to colleagues and students, yet the scholar must subject the research to rigorous testing and analysis to ensure its validity before it is published. The ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and in oral presentations, is important to this process.
Working together, our faculty, students and I will provide you with the best doctoral education available. The following information will allow you to discover whether the Kellogg School of Management is the best doctoral program for you.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Hagerty
