Transfer of Credit
Some Kellogg Part-Time MBA students may choose to apply for transfer of credit if they have completed course work at an AACSB - accredited graduate school of management or business. If you are interested in this, please provide the relevant documentation for transfer consideration.The current policy for Transfer of Credit is:
Students who have completed course work at an AACSB-accredited graduate school of management or business are eligible to receive credit toward their degree for up to four courses.
• Transfer courses must have been completed with a grade of B or higher
• Transfer courses must not have been used toward completion of another degree
• Transfer courses must be similar in content to courses offered at the Kellogg School
• Transfer courses must have been taken and completed no more than 2 ½ years prior to starting the Kellogg Part-Time MBA Program
• Transfer credits do not count towards fulfilling major requirements.
• Transfer credit is not included in the cumulative grade-point average
• Up to four transfer credits may be accepted
Application for transfer credit must be submitted as early as possible after acceptance into the program and must include an official copy of the transcript, catalog description and course syllabus.
To request a transfer review of previous MBA coursework, please submit the following:
1. A letter to Megan Krueger, Assistant Dean, Student Life, requesting to have the classes considered for transfer credit. Please use the Kellogg Part-Time MBA Program mailing address of 340 East Superior Street, 2M, Chicago, IL 60611. List the MBA level courses you want evaluated for the transfer of credit.
2. An updated transcript from the MBA program at which the coursework was completed. If your application file has the most updated, official transcript please make note of this in your letter to Dean Krueger. Photocopies, web download transcripts, or grade report cards are not acceptable. Only official, sealed transcripts from the MBA program will be accepted.
3. Course descriptions for each course under evaluation for transfer of credit (the syllabus is optional).
Once the above noted documentation is received, your request will be sent to the appropriate academic department for consideration. Dean Krueger will inform you of the academic department’s final decision regarding your transfer of credit request. This process may take up to three weeks.
If your classes are accepted for transfer, the amount of coursework you need to complete in the Kellogg Part-Time MBA Program will be reduced.
