Economist and Professor Sylvia Nasar to Appear at the Kellogg School of Management

Former economics reporter to address the global economy


2/17/2009 - WHAT: Former New York Times economics reporter and Columbia University journalism professor Sylvia Nasar will appear at the Kellogg School of Management on February 19 for a one-hour lecture entitled, “Globalization Then and Now: How Nations Create Their Destinies.” Professor Nasar will take an in-depth look at globalization from its first wave in the 19th century, and will focus on how today’s global policies will have overarching effects on future economic success worldwide.

Nasar is appearing as part of the 2008-2009 Kellogg Distinguished Lecture Series, which features preeminent thought leaders from the worlds of academia, journalism and business. The series seeks to address key issues and critical challenges facing today’s leaders, including the financial crisis, emerging global economies and business ethics.

WHO: Author of the bestselling book, A Beautiful Mind, Sylvia Nasar is an economist, journalist and professor offering a global, multi-faceted perspective. Earlier in her career as a journalist Nasar wrote for The New York Times, Fortune and U.S. News & World Report. Currently she is the James S. and John L. Knight Professor of Business Journalism at Columbia University, and she has also been a visiting scholar at Cambridge University, the Russell Sage Foundation and the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton.
