Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
  1. How do I get tickets for the NU graduation at 9:30 a.m.?
Tickets for the NU graduation at 9:30 a.m. June 21 can be obtained from Carole Cahill (Jacobs 262). Tickets are limited to 10 per student. If you are picking up your cap and gown in Chicago, you can contact Alana Stegich for NU ceremony tickets.

  2. Can someone else pick up my cap and gown?
    Yes

  3. DO I NEED TICKETS FOR THE KELLOGG CONVOCATION AT 5:00 P.M.?
No. There is no limit on the number of people you may invite.

  4. How does one get from the reception to the convocation ceremony at 5:00 P.M.?
Since parking is limited near Jacobs Center/Deering Meadow, we recommend parking at Ryan Field first and taking the air conditioned shuttle bus to and from the reception. Wheelchair accessible buses will be available.

  5. Are there parking facilities available for persons with disabilities?
Limited parking for vehicles displaying a valid handicapped tag as well as a drop-off site for persons with disabilities are available at Ryan Field.

  6. What is the convocation schedule?
    12:30 p.m. Nota Bene – Jacobs Center
    2:00 p.m. Reception - Jacob's Center and Deering Meadow
    5:00 p.m. Convocation begins

  7. What time is the ceremony over so we can make dinner reservations?
The ceremony usually lasts 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

  8. What should I wear?
Some students dress very casually since they will be wearing robes during the ceremony. Others dress in business casual attire since they plan to take photos and will be going out to dinner afterwards. We recommend that you dress in light clothing as the robes can be quite warm.

  9. What should my family members wear?
We suggest that you let your family and friends know that it can be quite warm the day of the ceremony. That said, they should dress with weather and comfort in mind. Nice pants and a shirt for men and a dress for women are recommended.

  10. How do the students line up for the convocation procession?
Students will line up alphabetically in Trienen Hall at 4:00pm for the procession.

  11. If I have a difficult name to pronounce, how will the deans know how to pronounce it properly?
If you have not already done so, please record the pronunciation of your name in the on-line Student Directory. This may be accomplished using your laptop, and instructions can be found here.

  12. I am having problems locating a hotel for my family, where should I look?
Many schools in Chicago hold their graduation ceremonies at the same time, so hotels are scarce. See our hotels page for some recommendations.

  13. When should I clean out my student locker and mailbox and turn in my key? (Full-Time students only)
Lockers and student mailboxes must be cleaned out by 5:00 p.m. Friday June 21, 2013. Any items left behind in lockers and/or mailboxes will be discarded. There will be donation bins placed near the locker areas for unwanted items. If you have forgotten your locker combination, stop by the Kellogg Student Affairs Office to be “reminded” of it. Turn in your key to Student Affairs.

  14. What happens in case of rain?
Kellogg's convocation will be held outdoors in Ryan Field. In the event of severe weather, the ceremony will be moved indoors to Welsh-Ryan Arena.

  15. Will there be a webcast of Kellogg’s Convocation?
Yes. Please refer to the Kellogg homepage for day-of information.
