SOCIAL ENTERPRISE
Lecturer of Nonprofit Management and Social Enterprise at Kellogg

Print Overview
Marianne Woodward teaches Social Entrepreneurship at Kellogg. She teaches from her extensive practical experience as a social entrepreneur, as well as her experience consulting on the topic.

Ms. Woodward is founder of Mission Possible, a consulting firm that believes that mission IS possible, even in this difficult environment. Ms. Woodward, and the firm are dedicated to helping organizations maximize their potential and their impact. It does this by combining the commercial discipline of for-profit organizations with the mission of not-for-profits. It is based on the premise that “not-for-profit” is a tax status, NOT a management style. The fact is that not-for-profit organizations can accomplish MORE mission if they run their organization more like a business.

Ms. Marianne Woodward’s unique background combines:

  • Corporate experience - a successful career in banking and finance, with particular expertise in operations, marketing, finance, management, and accounting.
  • Venture Capital experience - partner in the venture capital group of Brinson Partners, a large investment management firm.
  • Financial acumen - Chartered Financial Analyst with an MBA from University of Chicago and extensive investment and accounting experience
  • Not-for-profit experience - as the vice president of Business Development for Children’s Home & Aid Society of Illinois (CHASI)
  • Entrepreneurial know-how - founder and CEO of ASK4 Staffing, a for-profit company that was a subsidiary of CHASI Systems (a not-for-profit)
  • Academic skill - adjunct professor of Social Entrepreneurship at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management; Ms. Woodward holds an MBA degree from the University of Chicago.
  • Consulting expertise – With the expertise she has in each of these competencies, Ms. Woodward works with organizations to problem solve and reach maximum effectiveness.
