David R. Artz, MD, MBA is Medical Director of Information Systems/Chief Medical Information Officer at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. He is also an Associate Attending Physician (Associate Professor) in Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s Department of Medicine.

He started his career in Healthcare IT while still a student at Kellogg (Class of 1999), transitioning from a for-credit Health Services Management independent study elective at Northwestern Memorial Hospital into a full-time position upon graduation.

He teaches Healthcare Information Technology at Kellogg, using real-life practical examples from his extensive “day job” experience dealing with all facets of IT in an academic medical center to facilitate high quality, efficient clinical care and research.

Dr. Artz joined Memorial Sloan-Kettering in 2003. Previously he was Medical Director of Information Services at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a physician in General Internal Medicine at the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation. He also taught medical economics for 2nd year medical students at NU’s School of Medicine.

His Kellogg MBA concentrations are in Finance, Marketing and Health Industry Management. He trained in Internal Medicine at Boston City Hospital and obtained his MD from West Virginia University.
