Waiving out of MECN430

A waiver from MECN 430 is granted only by passing the waiver exam. There is no partial waiver for MECN 430. Please contact Academic Advisor Kalpana Waikar for more details.

This waiver policy is designed to assess whether you have mastered all of the material to be covered in MECN 430. Because courses that build on MECN 430 (like MECN 441 and MECN 446, for example) assume not just exposure to the content of MECN 430 but familiarity and fluency, relying on previous coursework is not a sufficiently good proxy for measuring how well you currently understand and are able to apply the material. As a core course, the modeling and frameworks covered in MECN 430 form an important component of a thorough business background. If you are interested in waiving MECN 430, you are advised to attempt the Self Test.
