DECS 445-0 Waiver and Qualifying Information
Course Title:
Turbo Decision Making and Statistics
This course is a substitute for DECS 433 and DECS 434.
Full-Time Students
Students who do well on the post-math bootcamp test and have prior course work (e.g. two courses in probability and statistics at grade B or better, or one course in probability with a grade of A), should consider taking the turbo version, DECS 445-0. DECS 445-0 can be taken in place of DECS 433 and DECS 434. To verify that you have the requisite knowledge and fluency one must take the DECS diagnostic test (see a sample diagnostic test |solutions). This document gives a brief outline of the material covered in DECS 433 and should help you decide if you have the background to take the waiver exam for DECS 433 or the dagnostic test for DECS 445 (Waiving DECS 433 vs. Enrolling in DECS 445).
The diagnostic test is offered once a year and is scheduled after your arrival in the Fall. The test is open book and open notes. Please register for the DECS diagnostic test by email directly after the waiver information session scheduled during CIM week.
Part-Time Students
There is no placement exam required for part-time students to enroll in DECS 445, but please be aware the course is geared towards students with a strong quantitative background. Please review the document Waiving DECS 433 vs. Enrolling in DECS 445 to help you decide if you should take the course.
