Tombama hits Washington D.C.
Certificate Program student Tom Evans, who worked full-time as deputy of African-American finance for then-presidential candidate Barack Obama, attended the inauguration activities this past January.
Here’s what Tom said about the experience:
“DC was fabulous. I attended the swearing in on Tuesday morning - barely getting in time after standing for over 3 hours in stagnant mobs of people. I stood next to Lisa Leslie and watched the ceremonies outside the capitol.
Tuesday night I attended the Eastern States Inaugural Ball, where there was a live performance by James Taylor, and was attended by Barack, Michelle, Joe, and Jill. I also had the opportunity to speak Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) who was one of the two senators accompanying Barack on his trip to Iraq back in July/August.
Wednesday was the Obama for America staff ball, also attended by the President, VP and their spouses. It also featured performances by The Arcade Fire and Jay-Z.”
