Chicago is the birthplace of the skyscraper and home to dozens of cultural landmarks including the Sears Tower, John Hancock Observatory, Field Museum and Navy Pier. The metropolitan Chicago area is home to nearly 8 million people who come from all over the world.

The city is a thriving economic powerhouse, the country’s second largest financial center and headquarters for some of the nation’s largest banks, brokerage houses and consulting and commodity firms. It is the transportation hub of the United States, a business and industrial giant and a world-renowned center for medicine.

Prominent organizations headquartered here include Abbott Laboratories, Allstate, Aon, Boeing, Brunswick Corporation, Crate & Barrel, CNA Financial, Exelon, Hewitt Associates, Hyatt, Kraft Foods, McDonalds Corporation, Motorola, NavTech, Orbitz, Sara Lee, Sears, Service Master, Tribune Company, UAL, Walgreen Company and Wrigley.

From arts and culture to sports to dining, Chicago offers something for every taste. The Art Institute of Chicago, Field Museum and Museum of Science and Industry are renowned for their world-class collections. Chicago is also world-famous for its blues clubs and extraordinary architecture. Sports fans flock to see Chicago Bulls and Sky basketball, Bears football, Cubs and the 2005 World Series champion White Sox baseball, Blackhawks ice hockey and Fire soccer.

Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy swimming, running, biking, and other sports in the many parks and beaches along Lake Michigan.

Wieboldt Hall
Northwestern’s Chicago campus is a series of several buildings occupying a 20-acre lakefront site bordering the business and financial center of the city on Chicago’s near north side. On this campus are the School of Law, the Medical School, the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, the School of Continuing Studies and the Kellogg School's Part-Time MBA program.

For more than 80 years, Kellogg has been housed in historic Wieboldt Hall at 340 East Superior Street, in Chicago. The Part-Time MBA program facility includes 17 classrooms and 20 rooms for group study, faculty and administrative offices, a business library, a computer lab, and a recently renovated café.

Libraries
The Schaffner Library, on the second floor of 340 East Superior Street, was established as a special library in economics and business in memory of Joseph Schaffner, a Chicago businessman, Northwestern University trustee and strong supporter of continuing education.
 
The library contains approximately 110,000 volumes and pamphlets, including more than 1,000 periodicals and serial publications.

Students in the Part-Time Programs are also granted access to University Library on the Evanston campus — one of the largest university libraries in the United States — libraries in the Chicago area, and specialized materials throughout the world through the Interlibrary Loan Program.

Information Technology Services
A robust and constantly expanding infrastructure gives students the technological tools they need to complete course work and stay connected. Students with laptops can access the Kellogg network via both wireless and wired Internet connections throughout the building. The Kellogg School’s computing lab at 340 East Superior Street provides students with computers, printers, scanners and other specialized resources, and the school’s intranet site offers a wealth of resources for classroom work and extracurricular activities.

Incoming students can take advantage of Web-based preparatory courses in math, accounting, microeconomics and statistics.

Kellogg requires all Part-Time MBA students to have access to a computer with Internet capability. Students are expected to register for courses and access course work online.
